Taking Care of Our Families
Our Direct Services Programs
Our Primary Program provides a “home away from home” for families of critically ill or injured children receiving care at nearby hospitals. In addition, we schedule an array of events and programming for adults, children, and the whole family together while staying in the house. Events include pet therapy, movie nights, special guest visits, family photos as well as arrangements with businesses all over Augusta.
We provide dinner for our families everynight. Breakfast and lunch are now part of our Grab n’ Go Program. Healthy menus are provided and volunteer groups cook meals every day. A food pantry provides families with healthy food, including dairy, fruit & produce for multiple nutritional options during their stay.
We provide two special places for the children to play in our house. Our main playroom has toys for children of all ages, including everything from a play kitchen to air hockey to video games. A second playroom is available for children with suppressed immune systems which makes sure that every child can have playtime when they need it the most. A special toy closet also gives the kids a smile on a day when treatment may be especially rough.
Provides welcome baskets, meal coupons, recreational and entertainment opportunities from generous Augusta businesses for Ronald McDonald House families. This program is currently on hold due to Covid-19.
The “Happy Wheels” hospitality cart travels the hospital hallways, bringing parents and children books, activities, and toys.
