31 Aug Volunteer Spotlight – Shannon Dougherty

“Hi! My name is Shannon, and I have been married to my husband, Darren, for 26 years. We have three beautiful children and two active pups. I have been a stay-at-home mom for 25 years and now that the kids are older, I have some free time on my hands. I knew I wanted to volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta once we moved here 3 years ago. Our youngest son had many health issues, and we were fortunate enough to use a facility similar to RMHC. It was so helpful to have a free, warm meal and a place to stay while my focus could be on getting my son well. You just don’t know how valuable a place like RMHC is until one of your children is sick. I have loved giving back to the families here in Augusta and am honored to be the volunteer of the month!”-Shannon
