19 Jan Volunteer Spotlight – Anthony Sweat
Anthony Sweat is the Founder of the James H. Sweat (JHS) Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded on the principles of his great-grandfather, James Henry Sweat. He believed that children and the elderly were the people who drove the world – children because they are the future and elderly because they are full of wisdom. These ideas naturally fit with the mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta and allow the JHS Foundation to make a positive difference in the lives of children and those who love them.
The JHS Foundation has provided dinner on the 4th Sunday of every month since 2015. In addition to monthly meals, the foundation regularly provides holiday meals, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, and hosts events for the children and families of the House, such as a Fall Festival. The JHS Foundation doesn’t stop at RMHC of Augusta. Anthony’s reach stretches far into our community. Because of the efforts and contributions of faithful supporters, the JHS Foundation is also able to pack and deliver weekly snack sacks for the Columbia County Connections Food 4 Kids Program; provide meals for the Prodigal House and pre-game meals at county high schools; sponsor the Keila Clark Scholarship Program; adopt families at Christmas, and be a Partner in Education with the Columbia County School District where he attended school.
In addition to being a lifelong resident of the CSRA, Anthony is a member of Sanctuary Church in Evans. When he is not completing his responsibilities as the Venue Coordinator of the Columbia County Exhibition Center or carrying out the mission of the JHS Foundation, Anthony enjoys playing golf, reading, watching live sporting events and music performances.
We are beyond grateful for your support and impact on the community!
