22 Jun Volunteer Spotlight – Kasha Owens
My name is Kashana Owens. I am a native of Mt. Juliet, TN, and have lived in Augusta, Georgia for the past three years. I am married to my husband Marc, and we have three children. I have a B.A. in Human Services and I am a member at Faith Outreach Church, where I have had the pleasure of serving within the Youth Department. I currently work for Delta Airlines, where I have the amazing opportunity to volunteer with different local charities via United Way. I am a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, INC. and currently serve within the Delta Alpha Sigma Chapter of Augusta, Ga.
I love serving my community and giving back any way I can. When we moved to Augusta, I knew I wanted to connect in some way with the local Ronald McDonald House. My daughter, when she was an infant 14 years ago, she was very sick and would often stay in the hospital.
One time a volunteer with the RMHC was pushing a cart (Happy Wheels) around the hospital and came to my daughter’s room. They showed us so much love and concern, I knew I had to repay my love and compassion back to others the way they made us feel in our darkest moment.
