Volunteer Spotlight – Georgia Soul Women’s Basketball Organization

The Georgia Soul Women’s Basketball Organization is a professional women’s organization that is centered on basketball while focusing on community service, youth mentorship, and professional networking. The organization began in 2015 by Ernesia Wright with her vision of bringing professional women’s basketball back to Augusta. While basketball is the foundation of the Georgia Soul, understanding the need for positive role models for female student-athletes is the mission of the organization. By partnering with several entities in the CSRA, the Georgia Soul continues to grow its footprint in the community.

The vision and mission of the Georgia Soul Women’s Basketball Organization focus on impacting the lives of youth and young adults in the CSRA community. Community Service is a requirement of all members of Georgia Soul to ensure the focus remains on embracing and enhancing the lives of the people the organization reaches. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta provides the perfect platform to share time, services, and resources with as the RMHC Augusta also positively impacts the lives of youth and their families by offering various programs for families in need. Being able to provide services, support, and time to the inhabitants of the RMHC Augusta also provides the members of the Georgia Soul with a sense of purpose and value to each person we meet. The impact of the smallest gestures toward the children and their families is immeasurable but can be lasting by motivating, mentoring, and sharing with the families.
