Volunteer Spotlight – Elizabeth Balkovich

Elizabeth Balkovich moved to Augusta, GA from the Milwaukee, WI area in October of 2020. She retired in 2018 from an Accounting Team Lead position after 13 years of employment with a family-owned pest control service provider. While employed, Elizabeth worked as a volunteer for the local public television station, as well as the annual Ronald McDonald Fantasy House event. At the time of her retirement, she took on additional volunteer opportunities working at two local theaters of the arts, as well as at the University of Wisconsin Book Festival.

While in Wisconsin, she knew several coworkers who had worked with the local RMH and raved about their experience with the organization. This left her wanting to learn more about the opportunities with RMHC Augusta. Now, Elizabeth provides stellar customer service as a receptionist every Monday from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. She enjoys greeting the families and children every week and comes in with a helpful, can-do mindset. In addition to in-House volunteering, Elizabeth continuously offers her assistance at special events, such as Wine Women & Shoes, the Red Shoe Golf Classic, and the Augusta Christmas Parade.

Elizabeth has three sons, one daughter, and a whopping seven siblings. She enjoys working out, playing pickleball, traveling, live music and theater, jigsaw puzzles, and is looking for new friends and additional volunteer opportunities in the area. She volunteers at Catholic Social Services Thrift Store and is a member of the Augusta Newcomers Club. We are so lucky to have you here at RMHC Augusta, Elizabeth!
