Stay With Us
Be close to your children when they need you most.
The Ronald McDonald House of Augusta is a caring place for families whose children are being treated at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, Joseph M. Still Burn Center, Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta, and University Hospital.
Families join us in search of hope, a treatment, a cure, and sometimes a miracle. At the Ronald McDonald House, families in medical crisis are able to come together and share their experiences, fears, and ultimately, their love and hope with each other.
We have welcomed over 18,000 families into our House since we first opened our doors in 1984.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta is a locally funded and operated non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and their families by creating and supporting programs that directly improve the health and well being of children.
Frequent Questions For Families
What makes a family eligible to stay at the Ronald McDonald House?
Basic eligibility requirements are that the patient must be a child that is 21 years of age or younger. The patient is either in, or coming to, Augusta for medical treatment whether it be as an inpatient or outpatient. Families that live more than 40 miles away receive priority consideration.
How do I request a room at the Ronald McDonald House?
Families must be referred by their medical provider, preferably by a social worker that is familiar with you and your family’s needs. After completing a successful background check, the social worker will complete the necessary paperwork and send it to the House. This request will place you on our waiting list for a room. We usually stay very full so a referral is not a guarantee for a room and we do not take reservations. Once the referral is received by the House, you are responsible for calling to confirm 24 hours before your arrival date and establishing a check-in time once a room becomes available.
Is there a fee to stay at the Ronald McDonald House?
We ask all our families for a $20/night donation to help us defray the cost of running the House and keeping it in good repair. However, no one has ever been turned away if they cannot make a donation.
How many people can stay in a room at the Ronald McDonald House?
Room occupancy is tied to fire code. We have rooms that will accommodate up to five people. This includes people of all ages and sizes and we will not allow more people in the room than code permits.
What do I need to bring with me?
We try to provide as much as possible for our families through the generous donations we receive from the community; however, we do have a few requirements and suggestions.
– A Valid photo ID is required in order to check-in.
– We provide linens and towels in the rooms.
– We also provide travel sizes of most toiletries, toilet paper, a laundry room with washers and dryers, and bins to store food.
– We also have a pantry with food available and dinner provided almost every night.
– If you forget anything, ask the staff at the front desk to see if we might have that item available.
