Meet the Team – Dr. David E. Jacobsen

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta announces the naming of David E. Jacobsen, Psy.D, as President and CEO effective immediately.  Dr. Jacobsen has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit executive management and consulting in the areas of children and family advocacy.  His most recent experience was as the President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region (Albany, New York) where he led the organization during the pandemic.  Despite the challenges of the pandemic, he expanded their programs to include a Family Retreat vacation option for families of seriously ill children, a Ronald McDonald Family Room inside the hospital and brought additional in-hospital services of a hospitality cart and a program to provide necessities for NICU parents.  This increase in programming expanded the reach of the organization from serving 4,000 in 2020 to 14,000 in 2023.

Dr. Jacobsen’s additional experience includes working in therapeutic residential and outpatient treatment programs for foster care and juvenile justice systems and management consulting with a variety of organizations.

Dr. Jacobsen holds a Doctorate in psychology and a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from Wheaton College and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from North Park College.  David will reside in Martinez with his white labrador Cashew Nut who is a registered therapy dog!  His six adult children are spread across the country and the youngest just graduated from Clemson University.

Margaret Woodard, Chairman of RMHC Augusta’s Board of Directors, commented on the appointment of David, “RMHC Augusta feels fortunate to have someone with David’s vast experience to lead our organization at a time when so many opportunities to expand our services to more families are on the horizon.  I encourage the community leaders of the Augusta and surrounding areas to reach out to welcome him at his email address – djacobsen@rmhcaugusta.org .”  For more information, please contact Margaret Woodard – mwoodward@augustadda.com
