Volunteer
Get involved with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta

As a volunteer at RMHC Augusta, you are the first voice a parent hears on the telephone or the first smiling face a family sees at the door after a long day at the hospital. By volunteering at the House, you will have a direct and lasting impact on a family going through one of the most difficult times in their life. Most importantly, when you volunteer at RMHC Augusta, you are helping make this House a home for 23 families every day.
Volunteer Opportunities

Virtual Volunteer Opportunities
Donate a Catered Meal –
Our Meals that Mend program offers an opportunity for groups of ten or less to come to the House and prepare a weeknight or weekend well-balanced meal to warm the hearts and bellies of families when they return from a long day at the hospital. Groups can alternatively prepare the meal at home and drop it off at our facility. Breakfast and lunch are offered, but we prioritize the dinner meal. For more information and available dates, please visit our Meals that Mend page.
Toiletry Care Kit– Fill a quart or gallon size Ziploc with travel-size necessities – toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hand sanitizer, facial tissue, and women’s hygiene products.
Grab n’ Go Bags – Volunteers purchase, decorate, and stuff the Grab n’ Go Bags. The Grab n’ Go bags provide families with breakfast and lunch as they move to and from the hospital. Be as creative as you want! Out of respect for the patients and families, we ask that you not include any religious artwork or messages.
Host a Wish List Drive – Collect items that are crucial to making the House a home: cleaning supplies, paper products, snacks, etc.
Pop Tab Program – Pop tab recycling raises money to support House. Individuals, schools, businesses, and corporations can raise money by saving pop tabs from aluminum cans. You can drop off your pop tabs at the House 24/7.
Host a Toy Drive – Collect new toys and activities to be distributed to the families.
Donate Frozen Casseroles – to be used later when we do not have a meal donor. Due to the size of our facility, the larger the casserole, the better!
Holiday/ Seasonal Crafts – Create door decorations – signs, banners, and/or wreaths for our 23 guest rooms. Door decorations can say Hello, Give thanks, Welcome, or any special message to brighten someone’s day.
Receptionist Volunteer
Be the “host or hostess” of the House. Greet guests and volunteers, answer phones, provide tours, help with family check-ins, and check-outs. You are interacting with the families each and every day, providing a friendly and welcoming experience.
House Warmer Volunteer
Help keep the House clean and organized by preparing the rooms for families, organize the library, sanitize all frequently used surfaces and help with the kitchen, re-stocking supplies, and creating an overall sense of comfort for the guests.

RMHC Augusta would love to coordinate a service project for your group. Volunteer groups help in many ways including:

- Hosting a family game night or other family activity
- Anything else you think families may like. We want to hear your ideas!
Are you an Alpha Delta Pi? Ronald McDonald House Charities is the national philanthropy for Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and we can connect you with other ADPi’s in our area to help out!

Because RMHC Augusta is a residential facility that serves children and their families, we take the security of our house very seriously. We have an application process and a background screening that each volunteer must complete. In addition, all House volunteers must have their COVID-19 vaccinations.
Once you have completed the application above, please email it to our Volunteer Coordinator, Karleigh King.
Ronald McDonald House Charities is a NON-DENOMINATIONAL organization. We have families with us from around the globe representing many different nationalities, cultures, and beliefs. We cannot appear to favor any specific one. Passing out any type of religiously themed literature or engaging in any type of religious solicitation is prohibited.
We cannot estimate how many children will be here on the date of your activity or their ages. We have families checking in and out every day which makes it difficult to determine who will be here on the date of your event.
Because many of the children in the House are unable to fight off infection, we are concerned about health standards. Please ensure that no one in your group has been exposed to COVID or chickenpox in the last 21 days or had any communicable illnesses such as mumps, strep throat, measles, or other infections. Please do not participate if you have experienced vomiting or diarrhea in the past 7 days.
Volunteers must be nine years of age or older. Volunteers under the age of 16 must-have adult supervision at all times. One adult per six children volunteers is required.
