RMHC Facts

RMHC Augusta has been a "home away from home" for families seeking medical treatment for their sick or injured child for over 32 years. We have helped over 19,000 families, since we opened our doors in 1984.

In 2016, we served 1,203 families.

It's easy to give to RMHC Augusta! You can donate online, drop your spare change in a donation box at McDonald's, donate goods or services, or volunteer your time.

Volunteers Make a Huge Impact on Our Families

The heart of the House is our Volunteer program. The volunteers serve in many ways, helping to make the House a comfortable and supportive place for our families.

The caring and cheerful volunteers of RMHC Augusta are the first voices families hear on the telephone and the first smiling faces they see at the door. Whether it's planning and coordinating an evening family activity, cooking a meal for the families through our Meal Program, being a part of our spring cleaning crew, or committing to volunteer on a shift each week, our volunteers make this House a home.

Individual Volunteers staff the House from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week. We have four different volunteers shifts: 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm, 3pm-6pm and 6pm-9pm. The two types of Individual Volunteers includes Front Desk Receptionist and House Warmer.

Front Desk Receptionist

This is one of the primary volunteer opportunities. Volunteers help to staff the Front Desk serving as support in the operation of the House. This may require heavy phone contact, greeting, processing of merchandise and monetary donations, and a lot of flexibility. Basic computer and customer service skills are very important. Volunteers must be 15 years of age to help with this volunteer position.

Commitment: 40 hours of service
Shift: Three (3) hour shift, twice per month

House Warmer

House Warmer volunteers assist families throughout their stay, beginning at check-in when they give families a tour and help them acclimate. Family Service volunteers will play a key role in House operations, helping to restock areas throughout the House, keeping public areas well organized, preparing guest rooms for new guests, and helping with daily chores in the kitchen. These volunteers will often be the first and most impactful checkpoint for families. Volunteers must be 15 years of age to help with this volunteer position.

Commitment: 40 hours of service
